Job Description:

The Tour Manager is responsible for managing between 8-10 tours per year. Between 80-120 days out of the year the Tour Manager will be on tour, and while not on tour the Tour Manager will be planning, researching and preparing for upcoming tours. The Tour Manager will work closely with ProRome in the development of each tour, and will assist the local Tour Director while on tour. The Tour Manager will furthermore conduct two (pre-tour) Zoom sessions with the tour group, as well as one (post-tour) phone interview with each tour participant.

As a boutique tour operator specializing in Catholic pilgrimages, it is necessary that the person applying for this position be a person of great faith. It is also necessary that this person is knowledgeable of the history, languages, cultures and traditions found throughout Europe, the United Kingdom and the Holy Land.

Only those with native / bilingual proficiency in English and proven leadership and interpersonal skills will be considered for this position. Proficiency in Italian, Spanish, French or German is preferred, as is experience living and working in Europe. Given the nature of the job, single persons are preferred for this position. A minimum two-year contract is required. Pay commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 24 years of age
  • Minimum 4 years of higher education (MA preferred, BA acceptable)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (Travel/tourism preferred)
  • Native / Bilingual proficiency in English
  • Working proficiency in Italian preferred
  • Working proficiency in additional European languages preferred
  • Experience living and working in Italy preferred
  • Proven leadership skills
  • CPR/AED Certified
  • Proven track record in the area of customer relationship management
  • Professional and interpersonal skills required to develop and foster positive relationships
  • Project management proficiency
  • Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of each tour
  • Study and master each tour program before tour
  • Study local language, customs and history before each tour
  • Write a historical overview of each tour no later than one month before tour (10 pages)
  • Conduct two (pre-tour) Zoom sessions with tour group
  • Conduct one (post-tour) phone interview with each tour participant
  • Lead each tour and represent company with professionalism, enthusiasm and energy
  • Build a relationship with each tour supplier before tour
  • Ensure ProRome branding with all suppliers before tour
  • Provide ProRome merch to tour director and guides before each touring program
  • Ensure each aspect of touring program runs smoothly and according to plan
  • Work with local tour director in the leading of each tour
