As Christendom seniors, you are about to begin a new chapter of your life.
Even though you’re graduating and your time as students is coming to an end, seniors can still play an important role in the Christendom community, traditions, and the common identity that we love.
Together, the senior class can join the alumni community in committing to monthly giving. Monthly gifts are an impactful way to make a real difference in the lives of future students.
The Christendom Alumni office recognizes, however, that you may have serious questions or concerns about joining the Senior Monthly Giving Initiative.
We want to give you answers!
- IT’S BIBLICAL. Scripture encourages believers to tithe up to 10% of our income. God loves a cheerful giver. Why not send a portion of that tithe to your alma mater?
- IT’S PERSONAL.
• Giving keeps you involved and engaged with the college and helps you live your faith – prayer, fasting, and ALMSGIVING!
• Giving shows gratitude. You benefitted from generous donors – give back for future generations of students.
• Giving shows pride in your excellent education, your hard-earned degree, and what it stands for.
• Shows leadership and sets the standard for the underclassmen.
• Encourages faculty and staff to continue to give.
• Inspires donors. Donors are more willing to give when they see seniors and alumni giving back to their alma mater.
WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
All funds raised by the senior class are combined with the gifts of generous alumni and go to support The Carroll Fund, a restricted fund that supports five areas most important to students – athletics, career development, faculty and staff support, counseling and spiritual development, and financial aid.
IF MY GIFT IS SMALL HOW CAN IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Just as many hands make light work, many small donations make a big difference! If each senior commits to a $5 per month recurring gift, that adds up to $7,200 in the first year alone! Now consider adding that to all past alumni classes AND future graduating classes; you have real momentum! Moreover, the statistics on alumni giving prove that alumni value their Christendom experience. These statistics on alumni giving have a huge impact on admissions and fundraising.
WHAT IF MY FUTURE IS NOT STABLE?
“I don’t yet have a full-time job, I am getting married, going to grad school, or entering religious life.” All these events are to be expected and with some planning and prayer, all will fall into place. What is important is that making a donation upon completing your senior year shows gratitude for your education, your professors, your friends, and your spiritual growth while being a part of this community. A small donation (about the price of a cup of coffee) will hardly be noticed on your credit card or bank account but will increase your love for and engagement with the college in the coming years.
WHAT IF I WANT TO GIVE TO SOMETHING RESTRICTED?
The Carroll Fund is restricted to the five key areas mentioned above and allows the college to put funds wherever needed most within those five categories.
WHY WOULD I GIVE? I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A FACULTY MEMBER, ADMIN, STUDENT LIFE, HOW THE SCHOOL OPERATES, ETC.
Christendom is made up of flawed human beings who are all striving to be holy in a troubled world. The annoyances of today fade quickly as you begin a new chapter of your life. What really matters is our education, our faith, and our friendships. These are worth donating to! If you still believe that the education you received at Christendom was good, then giving back is worth it.
