Sun23Jul20177:00 pmChester-Belloc Room (Regina Coeli Building)
Sunday July 23, starting at 7 p.m. in the Chester-Belloc Room (Regina Coeli Building) there will be a "quodlibet."
In the medieval university, teaching masters would occasionally do public quodlibet’s.
In a quodlibet, the teacher would field and respond to a wide variety of questions raised by his students. Students were free to ask any question they wished (within certain limits).
Our quodlibet will be structured the same way. It will be almost like a "theology on tap" but without a formal talk and without the subject matter be strictly limited to theology.
Christendom College Professors Bracy Bersnak (Political Science and Economics), Joseph Arias (Theology), and Mike Brown and John Cuddeback (Philosophy) will be fielding questions from the crowd.
Should be a lot of fun.
You will be free to ask any questions you wish (again within certain restraints).
This event is open to anyone/everyone - students, alumni, parents, cousins, neighbors, etc.
Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served. If you don't have any questions, at least come for the conversation which we hope will be vibrant and stimulating.
If you wish to come, please email Mike Brown at mbrown@christendom.edu to make sure there is sufficient food and drinks.

Mon14Aug2017Tue22Aug2017During your daily prayersWherever you pray
We all have some “knots” in our lives… and Mary can untie them!
The devotion to Mary, Undoer of Knots has become more popular ever since Pope Francis encouraged the devotion in Argentina, and then spoke about it during his first year as pontiff.
The theology of the devotion actually goes back to the second century. Saint Irenaeus wrote that, “The knot of Eve’s disobedience was untied by the obedience of Mary; what the virgin Eve bound by her unbelief, the Virgin Mary loosened by her faith.”
Mary’s faith unties the knot of sin!
So we will pray that the Blessed Virgin Mary will intercede for us all, to untie the knots of sin in our lives – so that we may be purified and ever closer to God.
We will start praying this novena on August 14 (eve of the Assumption) through August 22 (Queenship of Mary)!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, my Mother,I come to you this day as a little child in prayer. I beg to make this offering of my heart as simple and childlike as I can. The three little ones of Fatima have taught us what it is that pleases your maternal heart.
I earnestly desire that all the people of the world be brought back to a humble knowledge and love of the Sacred Heart of your dear Son. I pray, dear Mother of my God, that the indescribable beauty and the glow-white purity of your own Immaculate Heart may so captivate our souls that we will detest all sin and dedicate our lives to the honor and glory of the God Who created us. As much as I feel the need of many things, I do not dare in this novena, Mother Mary, to ask one selfish petition for myself. You revealed the secrets of your own sad heart at Fatima and begged for the restoration of the world to God. What can I ask of greater good than to unite my heart to yours in this great yearning? What can I add but the fervent prayer that all the world may listen to your pleading?
I give my heart to you, my heavenly Queen, and in utmost confidence I leave to you the choice of what is best for me in answer to my prayer of love and reparation. Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, I give you my heart. Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, I put my trust entirely in you.
Immaculate Heart of the Mother of my God, we implore, through your powerful intercession, the conversion of the hearts of men, complete victory over sin, and the return of peace which you have promised. Amen.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us.
Our Lady Queen of Christendom, Pray for us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us. -

Dear Alumni,
Peace be with you.
I hope you and your extended families are doing well in these days of grace.
Mid-August is upon us and typically at this time of year, we are heavily promoting Homecoming and registering alumni for the various reunion and alumni receptions.
But as you well know, this is NOT a typical year.
In conjunction with key alumni advisors and the college administration, the Homecoming Committee has decided that the best thing to do (for alumni, students and the college itself) is to postpone Homecoming until the Fall of 2021.
In a nutshell, Homecoming would not be Homecoming given the concerns expressed by a growing number of alumni regarding travel and other coronavirus challenges, the prudent policies being implemented on campus, and the highly uncertain environment due to the fluid and varying state mandates around the country.
In particular, a number of alumni have expressed disappointment that they will not be able to attend their class reunions. To ensure that all alumni have the opportunity to attend their reunions, all 2020 class reunions will be postponed and officially celebrated in October of 2021 along with the normal 2021 reunions.
Where possible, I want to encourage you to connect in person with other alumni in your area, based on your own comfort level and particular circumstances.
In the short term, the alumni advisory council and the alumni office will be investing their energies in serving our alumni community in other ways during this time. You will be invited to participate in several virtual events planned for this fall and next spring. (Details forthcoming.)
In addition, we will have some exciting alumni news to share with you in the coming months that will engage alumni on a whole new level. (Stay tuned!)
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns.
Until the next update, may God bless you and your family!
Sincerely,
Vince

Divine Mercy Novena - Christendom College
The remembrance of your living and deceased loved ones in the Divine Mercy Novena will be offered by the Christendom Community from April 15, 2022 (Good Friday) through April 23, 2022 (Eve of Divine Mercy Sunday). The names of your loved ones will be placed on the altar of Christ the King Chapel during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday.
How to Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet
1. Using rosary beads, begin with the Sign of the Cross, say one “Our Father,” one “Hail Mary,” and “The Apostles’ Creed.”2. Then on the “Our Father” beads say the following: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
3. On the ten “Hail Mary” beads say the following:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades.)4. Conclude with (three times):
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.Closing prayer: O Blood and water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us, I Trust in You!
St. Faustina, pray for us!
St. John Paul II, pray for us!Excerpts taken from the Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska – Divine Mercy in My Soul:
“Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask… before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy."
- Notebook III, #1146“My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet. When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace and the hour of their death will be a happy one.
- Notebook V, #1541“Write this for the benefit of distressed souls; when a soul sees and realizes the gravity of its sins, when the whole abyss of the misery into which it immersed itself is displayed before its eyes, let it not despair, but with trust let it throw itself into the arms of My mercy, as a child into the arms of its beloved mother.
